The Return of Church Wardens and Overseers of the
Parish of East Orchard in the Hundred of Sixpenny Handley of men qualified to serve on Juries
From 1696, rural vestries had to send lists of men eligible for jury service to the Clerk of the Peace for their county. From 1825 the criteria applied were:
• Aged between 21 and 60
• Owned freeholds worth at least £10 per year OR
• Leaseholders for 21 years or more worth £20 OR
• Rateability as a householder at £20 OR
• Occupation of a house with fifteen or more windows
